The Sky Swimming Pool At This Hotel Has A Window In It

When noa* (network of architecture), were asked to re-design Hotel Hubertus that sits at the foot of a ski and hiking area in Valdaora, Italy, they included a new 82 foot (25m) swimming pool. The pool sits almost 40 feet (12m) above the ground and is located between the two accommodation wings of the hotel. The infinity edge pool allows guests to have uninterrupted views of the valley below and the mountains in the distance. The pool has been wrapped in anthracite-colored stone, almost making the pool blend into mountains that surround it. Continue reading »

In honor of black history month, a mother and a daughter teamed up to recreate photos of iconic black women.

Back in February 2017, Cristi Jones decided to commemorate the month by dressing her 5-year-old daughter and shared the results on Twitter. Sandow Birk’s exhibition at PPOW Gallery, Triumph of Hate, examines dark strains in the culture and politics of the United States, including Trump, gun violence, white supremacy, and greed. Birk’s body of work is unusual in that its explicit politics don’t read as overly didactic — a difficult line to walk successfully. Triumph of Hate is comprised of three distinct bodies of work: a series of satirical prints about Trumpian exploits, graphically violent paintings examining recent events, and a triptych of woodblock prints representing the battle of good versus evil throughout American history. Artists Installed A Dumpsters Filled With Illuminated Plastic Garbage On The Street In Switzerland

Last June, Spanish art collective Luzinterruptus installed two dumpsters filled with illuminated shopping bags outside the Gewerbemuseum in Switzerland. Odires Mlászho’s Book Sculptures Re-Bound With Interweaved Pages

The works São Paulo-based Odires Mlászho hinge on transformations, often employing books, found images, tape, paste and collage. The Brazilian artist’s name is even a work of transmutation. Born José Odires Micowski, Mlászho created his artist pseudonym by borrowing from and combining the names of his two great influences, Max Ernst and László Moholy-Nagy.
