Newlyweds Have Self-Portrait Pizzas Made for Wedding Day
Fast food-loving newlyweds came up with the perfect way to celebrate their marriage after commissioning special portraits of themselves on a pair of pizzas.
Newlyweds Kieran and Natasha Morris, from Bury, Manchester, asked their favourite pizza company, Domino’s, to recreate their faces on two large 13inch pizza bases, complete with tomato puree, ham and sweetcorn. The pizza firm turned to celebrity portrait artist, Nathan Wyburn, who has previously appeared on Britain’s Got Talent and specialises in creating iconic pictures out of everything from Marmite on toast, to ketchup, sugar, chocolate, toothpaste and even fake tan. Moonlight Rainbow Fountain in Seoul, South Korea
The Moonlight Rainbow Fountain is the world’s longest bridge fountain that set a Guinness World Record with nearly 10,000 LED nozzles that run along both sides that is 1,140m long, shooting out 190 tons of water per minute. Installed in September 2009 on the Banpo Bridge, former mayor of Seoul Oh Se-hoon declared that the bridge will further beautify the city and showcase Seoul’s eco-friendliness, as the water is pumped directly from the river itself and continuously recycled. Indonesian Man Best Friends with 28 Stone Bengal Tiger
Mulan Jamilah, a 6-year-old Bengal tiger, kisses caretaker Abdullah Sholeh, 33, in the garden beside their home on January 20, 2014 in Malang, Indonesia. Abdullah Sholeh of Malang, Indonesia is an Islamic student who has become best friend and a full-time nanny to the tiger. Mulan’s owner, Noer Muhammad Sholeh, 51, asked Abdullah to take care of the tiger when it was a 3-month-old cub at Dilem Village, Kepanjen District, Malang, East Java. Abdullah Sholeh regularly sleeps, plays and fights with the huge tiger. The pair are so inseparable, he often shuns his own bed to sleep alongside the big cat in her enclosure. Mulan now weighs 178 kg, is three meters long including the tail and one meter high. For security reasons, they have had to install metal bars to separate them when they are together in the enclosure. Mulan is fed 6kg of chicken or goat meat twice a day. As a 17-year-old boy, Mike Coots lost his right leg in a shark attack while surfing off the coast of Hawaii. But the 1997 tragedy has done nothing to diminish Coots’ love for the ocean, as seen in a series of stunning photographs he has been posting on his Instagram page. Bear Sculptures Embroidered with Anatomy
Bears are seemingly turned inside-out with embroidery of their anatomy in stunning lifelike sculpture by Deborah Simon. Measuring about two feet square, the sculptures reveal internal organs, musculature, skeletons and nerves. The series highlights how human desire for their pelts puts these majestic creatures in danger.
“Bears are the ultimate stuffed animals; both the iconic plush toy and the prized taxidermy specimen for hunters,” says Simon. “Most of the sculptures deal with vulnerability; the vulnerability that the animals face from environmental degradation, conflicts with people, suburban sprawl and poaching. I particularly find the dichotomy between the defanged, declawed childhood toy and the fierce reality of a top predator fascinating.” Continue reading »
‘World’s Worst’ Waxworks Collection Sold
Louis Tussauds House of Wax in the English seaside town of Great Yarmouth had been quietly disappointing customers for over 50 years when it rose to prominence in 2008 after being labelled “the world’s worst waxworks.” The museum shut down last year after owners June and Peter Hayes retired, but this month the collection of unlife-like models of stars, athletes and royalty found a new home when they were snapped up by an anonymous buyer from the Czech Republic. The waxwork heads above, if you haven’t already guessed, are of ’70s heartthrobs and “Starsky and Hutch” actors Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul. Of course they are. Lanakila MacNaughton is a Portland based photographer and motorcyclist. Involved in many outdoor sports from a young age, Lana began documenting her experiences through photography. After developing a passion for motorcycles in her early twenties, she started documenting many facets of motorcycle culture through her lens. Lana shoots in medium format on a Hasselblad CM.
“I created The Women’s Motorcycle Exhibition to document the new wave of modern female motorcyclists. I want to reveal the brave, courageous and beautiful women that live to ride. The show is a vehicle which promotes a new perception of female empowerment and inspires an independence and liberation through motorcycling. The Women’s Motorcycle Exhibition is a traveling show. I hope to help discover and present female riders from all different communities, riding backgrounds, styles, and influence connectivity amongst riders from these different areas.
