Water — this was the theme of this year’s HIPA photography contest. The awards were announced on June 7, 2020 and the Grand Prize of 120k dollars went to Jasmine Carey from Australia for her stunning and ethereal photo of a mother Humpback whale sleeping beside her 2-week-old baby. Spectacular Winning Photos From The Sony World Photography Awards 2020

Created by the World Photography Organisation and sponsored by Sony, the Sony World Photography Awards has four competitions: Professional, Open, Youth and Student. It is one of the world’s largest and prestigious photography competitions, with more than 345,000 images from 203 countries and territories submitted across the four competitions for the 2020 edition. More than 135,000 images were entered into the Professional competition this year – the highest entries to date.

Below you will enjoy winners from all four competitions, plus the Alpha Female Award and Latin America Professional Award winners – both new awards for 2020.

Beautiful Early Entries Of The 2020 Sony World Photography Awards

The 2020 Sony World Photography Awards are now taking entries, and the organizers were once again kind enough to share some of their early photos with us, gathered here. This year’s competition has an expanded youth-competition schedule, a new overall environment category, and two new awards: the Latin America Professional Award, and the China National Student Award. Paolo Roversi has recruited ten women—Emma Watson, Kristen Stewart, Yara Shahidi, Mia Goth, Chris Lee, Claire Foy, Mia Goth, Indya Moore, and Rosalía Vila Tobella—to interpret the role of Shakespeare’s Juliet for the Pirelli 2020 calendar. Shot in Paris and Verona over a week in May, the calendar sees them act, pose, sing; each through their own emotion, art form, personality, character, and interpretation of the role.
