“New York State On Pause”: These Photos Show How COVID-19 Changed Daily Life In NYC

When thinking about New York City, one of the first things that come to mind is constant hustle and bustle. That was true, at least until March 22nd when Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the “New York state on pause” executive order.

New Yorkers, like everyone else, had to get used to a ‘new normal’ under the Covid-19 pandemic. This quiet and emptiness are so unusual in the city it almost feels eerie. Photographer and New Yorker Wendy Lin realized this is a historical moment that must be captured, and so she did.
