Artist Michael Strevens Hides a Tiny Human Figure Inside Every Geometric Abstraction to Turn Flat Patterns Into Infinite Worlds

Michael Strevens is a London-based digital artist who creates hypnotic, geometric abstractions that explore human presence inside the digital landscape. His signature across every artwork is a minute, solitary human silhouette tucked inside intricate graphic patterns, converting what would otherwise be a flat optical abstraction into an immense, labyrinthine architecture.

Strevens works with an unusual constraint: he crafts his complex pieces entirely using mobile devices and mobile photo-editing applications. Starting from architectural photographs and urban geometry shot across Europe, he uses manipulation tools to isolate lines, repeat forms, distort vanishing points, and inject glitch aesthetics.

His aesthetic alternates between stark monochromatic contrast and vivid, pulsing neon gradients (electric pinks, cyans, and deep violets). He embraces the spirit of glitch art—”digitally destroying or corrupting the data in an image and turning it into something new”—before constructing geometric order back out of the fragments.
