Amazing LEGO Creations Inspired By Classical Art Pieces
Andrew Lipson

There’s this weird correlation between LEGOs and life stages. If, at first, your only interest is to chew the blocks and smash them into one another, then later you actually start to build something out of them. After a while, your LEGO bricks are probably thrown into a dark corner of a closet, with only a few sneaky pieces left lying around for you to step on and swear loudly. Some years pass, and you suddenly remember your long-forgotten LEGO bricks, pull them out of the closet and start playing around, right when you thought you’re fully grown-up and toys are not for you anymore. These people, though, took their revived love for LEGO creations a step further and re-did classical art pieces accurately only by using LEGOs. Continue reading »

Since 2007, Berlin-based artist Jan Vormann has used tens of thousands of LEGO bricks to patch crumbling holes in architectural structures around the world. His colorful bricks imitate the brick or cobblestone-constructed buildings he often “repairs,” however at a miniature scale. Kiki Fernandes Captures The Poignancy Of De Saint-Exupéry’s Work In Gorgeous Photos Of Scenes From "The Little Prince" — In LEGO

Kiki Fernandes is a gifted Brazilian photographer whose portraits of young women and expectant mothers are astonishing in their beauty and intensity. But what really caught our eye was a very different project: her lyrical photos of scenes from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s 1943 classic The Little Prince, built in LEGO form. It sounds cutesy, or even gimmicky, but her work somehow captures the particular melancholy of the novel in ways conventional illustrations might not. Continue reading »

The Adventures Moody Groot: A LEGO Photo Series

First, we got to know Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy. Then we met Baby Groot. By the time Avengers: Infinity War came along, he’d grown into a moody teenager, completely attached to his handheld device, or phone, as we still call them. LEGO sculptor Ochre Jelly (Iain Heath) has recreated that version of Groot out of LEGO pieces- and he’s posable, which means he can check messages, play games, and listen to music wherever he happens to be. Ochre Jelly used his own phone-obsessed kids as inspiration for the series. Continue reading »
