This Pop-Art Pool Is A Shining Example Of Designer Richard Woods’ Artistic Vision
The pool is a part of the barn’s Living With Art installation; it’s fully swimmable and is a shining example of Woods’ ability to balance form and function in a truly inspiring way. The “wood” tiles are a caricature of traditional wood planking with their exaggerated grain and pops of primary colors. Pedro Pires’ 14.000 newtons is a large-scale skull sculpture made of 140 life vests and rubber from a refugee dinghy found in the Greek island of Lesvos in 2016. The project derives from the line of work that the Angolan/Portuguese artist has been developing about migration since two years ago, when he visited Lesvos, splitting his time between volunteer work with the NGO ERCI (assisting migrants/refugees that arrived by boat), and documental and graphic recording, as well as physical recollection of items. A Glitched Vintage Plymouth Stands On End In A Canadian Parking Lot
Calgary-based artists Caitlind r.c. Brown and Wayne Garrett create large, public installations that invite people to engage in a shared experience. Their latest work cruised into Edmonton’s Brewery District late last month—a blue 1988 Plymouth Caravelle balanced perfectly on its front bumper and headlights. At first glance the car appears to have stuck a perfect vertical landing after a tragically wrong maneuver, but upon closer inspection one notices glitched segments that protrude from the vehicle’s body and front wheel.
