Fantasy Animals By Lee Cross
Artist Lee Cross creates her own animal sculptures without the use of any dead carcasses. The basis of each animal’s shape is made out of materials such as wood, clay and chicken wire, and is then wrapped up in a soft padding. A Group Of Artists Unveil A Mural Celebrating 250 Years Of Literary History
The Graphic History Company and Machete UK today unveiled The Author Mural commissioned to celebrate nearly 250 years of literary history at Hachette UK’s landmark London building, Carmelite House, on the north bank of the Thames. The mural features the names of prominent authors published by Hachette UK from the foundation of the group’s oldest publishing house, John Murray, in 1768, to the present day, including Charles Darwin, Jane Austen, Bram Stoker, Vladimir Nabokov, Enid Blyton, Daphne du Maurier, Nelson Mandela, J. M. Barrie, Goscinny & Uderzo, JK Rowling and Malala Yousafzai. This Wall Clock Changes Shape When You Walk Around It
Inspired by motion capture techniques used in movies such as Lord Of The Rings and Avatar, designer J.P. Meulendijks has created a wall clock for Plankton, that appears to change shape when looked at from different angles. When you have a closer look, you can see that the numbers on the clock face area made up of little white balls that ‘float’ at different heights. When you move around the clock, for example side to side, the numbers dissolve and transform into different shapes resulting in an optical illusion, and making the clock appear more as a piece of art than a device to tell time. Empire Rising
Built in complete darkness, a complex city is being constructed. A wild swarm of Honeybees (Apis mellifera) arriving in the spring, is developing natural wax comb formations to support the colony’s future larvae, and food storage. When this colony is at it’s strongest, it will eventually divide. The majority of the bees swarming to a new location with the queen and begin the process of reproducing all over again, thus spreading their genes farther. An Eccentric Artist Has Collected Fifty Vintage Cars And Left Them To Rot In A Forest – And Now They’re Worth Over One Million Dollars
Former racing driver Michael Fröhlich, from Dusseldorf, Germany, has purposely crashed the cars into trees, buried them in mud and parked them on cliff faces in his estate’s garden in the middle of the German Neanderthal. His collections includes a Jaguar XK120 worth $170,000, a Porsche 356 racer and a Buick worth $17,000. Perhaps his most interesting collectable is a Rolls Royce, with a purposefully misspelt “Buckingham Palace” – replacing the B with an F – emblazoned on the side with a replica of the Queen Elizabeth at the wheel. Amazing Vintage Photographs That Show The Dangers Of Constructing The Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is an iconic office building known as “the Most Famous Skyscraper in the World.” Built during the Depression between 1930 and 1931, the Empire State Building became the world’s tallest office building until 1967. The design of the building changed 16 times during planning and construction, but 3,000 workers completed the building’s construction in record time: one year and 45 days, including Sundays and holidays. The Empire State’s construction work and its workers were a magnet for press and magazine photographers, which is how many iconic images of the construction work were created, like these.
