Wonderful Color Photographs Of Street Scenes From Between The 1950s And 1970s
Fred Herzog was born in Germany in 1930. Immigrating to Canada in 1952, he took odd jobs wherever he could find them. He rented a place at a rooming house, which is where he met Ferro Shelley Marincowitz, a South African who also happened to be a medical photographer. Herzog had an interest in photography; his camera was one of the few items he brought with him from Germany. Marincowitz encouraged that interest and soon they found a basement suite where they built a darkroom for both of them to share. Continue reading »

Globe-trotting photographer couple Peter Sedlacik and Zuzu Galova have found a fun way to document their travels around the world. Wherever they are, they face each other, frame up a great composition, and take a picture of each other… taking a picture of each other. Thus was born the photo series/project “Lens Between Us”, which is quickly scooping up followers on Tumblr, Facebook and Instagram alike. The resulting diptychs are creative, well-composed, and whimsical in the best way. A tribute to how their focus is always on each other, the images are part travel photography, part portraiture, and challenging to boot since each shot requires that they figure out not one, but two compositions. Heartwarming Photographs Capture The Bond Between Homeless People & Their Pets
Its an unfortunately common sight to see homeless people with animals for companions. The unconditional love and affection that a feline or Kanine partner can give to someone facing terribly hard times can quite literally be a lifesaver. Photographer Norah Lveine addresses that in her latest series of images she titles “Lifelines”.
The Liflines project states: “Regardless of the reason for their situation, the homeless rely on their pets for many things—most importantly—companionship. Many homeless pet owners use what little resources they do have to provide care and sustenance to their animal; food, bedding, etc., because their love and reliance on their pet surpasses all other priorities in life, they have little left for their own material needs.
The mission of the Lifelines project is to depict the bond between people and their pets, and document a relationship that has existed for thousands of years across all walks of life. The project’s purpose is to share the images and unique lifestyle of the pets of the homeless with the community of Austin.”
