Spectacular Winning Images of The Nikon Small World Photomicrography 2022
Nikon Small World is widely regarded as the leading forum for recognising the art, proficiency and photographic excellence involved in photomicrography, or the art of photography through a light microscope. Each year, the competition attracts hundreds of vivid pictures revealing details of a world unseen by the naked eye. Founded in 1975, this year’s entries numbered almost 1,300 and were drawn from 72 countries.

Spectacular Winning Images from The Nikon Small World Photomicrography Contest 2020
A selection of the winning images from Nikon’s 46th annual Small World photomicrography competition. The competition recognises excellence in the world of microscopic image-making. Daniel Castranova, assisted by Bakary Samasa in the lab of Dr Brant Weinstein at the National Institutes of Health, took the top prize for a photo of a juvenile zebrafish.

A Photographer Shows the Harsh Reality of Living in 43-Square-Foot Rooms in South Korea
Korea is widely known for its diverse culture, magnificent skyscrapers, delicious food, and highly developed technology. But South Korean photographer Sim Kyu-Dong shows us the other side of the coin by telling us about “Goshiwon” — a tiny, cramped, cheap housing unit where South Korea’s poorest people live.
