Jeanne Vicerial Designs the Future of Sustainable Clothing
A Parisian artist with a passion for clothing design ignited in her teenage years, Jeanne Vicerial (born 1991) is both a designer and a researcher.
After graduating with a master’s degree in clothes design from the prestigious École des Arts Décoratifs in 2015, she embarked on a research project culminating in a PhD in Sciences, Arts, Creation and Research. Her 2019 thesis challenged the norms of contemporary clothing design, proposing an alternative to the wasteful fast-fashion cycle trapped between made-to-measure and ready-to-wear options. Vicerial didn’t stop there. Partnering with the mechatronics department at Mines ParisTech, she even developed a patented robotic process for creating custom-made clothing with zero fabric waste.
