Stunning Retro Posters Promoting the Prohibition of Alcohol in Alberta, Canada
Within the first few decades of the 20th century, the Temperance movement exerted a significant amount of influence over the continent of North America, and Alberta was not an exception.
The province had a ban on the selling of alcoholic beverages beginning in 1916, but it was overturned by a plebiscite in 1923, which made it possible for the government to sell alcoholic beverages in its stores.
