Fascinating Photos of 1955 Ghia Streamline X “Gilda”, The Jet Age Masterpiece

The 1955 Ghia Streamline X ‘Gilda’ Concept, designed by Giovanni Savonuzzi, epitomizes the Jet Age’s influence on automotive styling.

Commissioned with input from Chrysler’s Virgil Exner, it was named after Rita Hayworth’s seductive character in the film *Gilda*. Unveiled at the Turin Motor Show, its wind tunnel-tested wedge shape and dramatic tail fins marked a bold leap in aerodynamic design. Though originally a mock-up, it later received a gas-turbine engine and went on to inspire Chrysler’s “Forward Look” design language for 1957.
