In the 1950s, American kids idolized cowboys – in the 1970s it was truckers. There was an endless supply of movies painting truckers as anti-establishment heroes of the highway (Convoy, Breaker Breaker, Smokey & the Bandit, etc.), and God-knows their tool of the trade, the CB radio, was the coolest thing ever. Truckers were seen as rebels, interstate outlaws, cowboys of the open road who didn’t answer to “the man”… but the public’s fascination waned by the early 1980s.

Gueorgui Pinkhassov was born in Moscow in 1952. As a Russian who acquired French citizenship, Pinkhassov has lived in Paris for many years. Pinkhassov became interested in photography at the end of secondary school. Fashion model and embroidery artist Sheena Liam hand sews images of women whose hair seems to gracefully dangle from each of her 2D surfaces, Liam using black thread as a substitute for her subjects’ long locks. The works are all completed and displayed on embroidery hoops, with hair styles extending from the women in french braids, messy buns, and long ponytails. Cambodian artist Visoth Kakvei masterfully brings together symbolism and style, and no sketchbook has enough pages for his creativity.
The 27-year-old graphic designer usually draws his works freehand and the pieces take 3-6 hours to finish, but sometimes Kakvei feels it’s not enough.
