French muralist Julien Malland (aka Sethpreviously) has been extremely prolific over the last year, traveling to far flung locations around the world including China, Tahiti, New Zealand, Italy, Canada, and even the Reunion Islands in just the last few months alone. Seth paints large-scale human figures—mostly children—that appear faceless, cut off by the edges of buildings or turned completely away from the viewer, as if looking out into the world or witnessing something we cannot see. Pizza in the Wild series I and II by Los Angeles-based photographer Jonpaul Douglass (previously) were inspired by pizza graffiti which led him to photograph a bunch of Little Caesar’s pizza pies in unusual locations and situations throughout LA. Some hang off ledges, others are thrown/placed on animals, cars, street signs and the like, and still others become one with nature. If you’re feeling badly for the pizzas that appear in the shots, don’t; none were harmed in the making of the series and apparently some were even eaten! A very wise man, for sure. Vietnam Veterans Dog Tag Memorial In Chicago

At the Harold Washington Library in Chicago is a new art installation called “Above and Beyond” featuring over 58,000 replica dog tags — one for each American soldier killed in the Vietnam War. The dog tags, each hung one inch apart, are suspended from the ceiling from a 410-square-foot rectangle. Each dog tag lists the soldier’s name, military branch and date of death. Nearby is a touch panel display that allows visitors to look up a veteran’s name and find generally where the soldier’s dog tag is hanging. It is the only memorial other than The Wall in Washington, D.C., that lists every individual killed in Vietnam. Continue reading »

According to an artist Adriano Rodrigues: “For my final project for Photography, I created a series using professional make up that would react to the UV light of a black light. First off, I want to thank Sarah Luke for her patience as a model and Breeanna Nichols for her stellar work at applying professional grade make up on Sarah. This and formost was a group effort, we simply intended to make something that capured our imaginations and to shake up the concrete “boring” world. This was a one day process, took roughly 7 hours to create and photograph and an additional 6 hours of editing images. The Braille Bricks project, co-founded by the Dorina Nowill Foundation For The Blind, helps blind children learn to read through play. Each block can be used like a toy by blind and sighted children alike, although for the benefit of the blind children, each block features one Braille letter.
