As much fun as it is to dress up for Halloween yourself, it can be even more fun to dress up animals. It is a common sight as people go out trick-or-treating or walk in parades. But have you ever seen a 2,000 pound horse fully dressed as an AT-AT from Star Wars? Continue reading »

“The Belly Tank”: A Military Drop Tank Is Transformed Into An Αerodynamic Pommel Horse

Like many creative endeavors, the Belly Tank Project took shape over a bottle of red wine when product designer Axel Kleinschmidt explained to his friend, economist Hartmut H. Hölter, his fascination with belly tanks — an aviation term that describes expendable fuel tanks, also known as drop tanks, externally carried by combat aircraft— which he had found on sale on the internet, and his wish to cleanse such a war object from its military connotations and use it in a positive way. The Belly-Tank Project was thus launched aiming to transform a piece of warfare into a symbol of peace. Continue reading »

Einstein: The World’s Smallest Horse

The World’s Smallest Horse according to Guinness World Records is Thumbelina from Missouri, but another tiny horse named Einstein may take her place when he turns 4, which is the minimum age required for the record. Einstein is from New Hampshire and unlike Thumbelina, he doesn’t have any dwarvish features, he has the same proportions as any other horse – he’s just much much smaller.

Einstein is only 35 cm tall (14 inches) and weighs 2.7 kg (6lb). Thumbelina is 44.5 cm (17.5 in) tall, so even if Eisntein grows a little, the chances of he becoming the official smallest horse in the world are quite high. He was born in April 2010, so he still needs to wait for almost 2 years until he becomes eligible for the title. Continue reading »
