The beautiful insects, known as lightning bugs, thrive in the humid conditions of the forest in Nanacamilpa village, in Tlaxcala, Mexico – which create perfect breeding conditions.

The bugs also leave the forest and scatter across the wide open fields in the surrounding area, with one picture showing them against an incredible backdrop of the sun setting behind a hill.
