Photographer Paolo Raeli Shows Us How Beautiful The Youth Can Be

Paolo Raeli is an artist born and raised in Palermo, South Italy. Being scared of forgetting things, his main focus became photography. His main focus became photography and taking pictures of his friends and loved ones mostly. Paolo Raeli shows with his pictures how beautiful the youth can be.

And if these pictures have anything important to say to future generations, it’s this: I was here. I existed. I was young, I was happy … And someone cared enough about me in this world to take my picture.

In addition to a photo exhibition called INSIDE MY ROOM in Favara, the artist also exhibits his works in the exhibition PAOLO RAELI in the Daelim Museum in Seoul. Rarely do you experience such lively, honest, and warm images that play with colors in a very individual way.

With his works, Paolo Raeli reflects exactly the youth culture, which probably even many young people want: kisses in the back of a car, hiking through the rain, sleeping under the open sky and cycling through balmy summer nights.

one thing I’ve started doing recently is: taking pictures of very ordinary things. I’ve spent years taking pictures of amazing moments, incredible adventures with friends, skies that looks like paintings and stuff I feel grateful I’ve had the chance to experience with my own eyes. but do you have a picture of the street you live in? the facade of the house you’ve been living most of your life? I don’t have a single picture of my mom’s old red car, the one she used to bring me to school every day (and that our cat sneaked in to gave birth to three kitties on the backseat) I don’t have pictures of my old bedroom with the lovely lilac walls. I don’t have even a single picture of the jumper I’ve worn so many times I had to throw it away because it was ruined. not a picture of our front door, when my mom painted it pink “just because why not”, and my sister’s lovely dollhouse. I am sorry for that – I’ve spent so many times looking for the “extraordinary things” forgetting all the rest – (thoughts from 2016)

When I was little, I thought love was about red roses and expensive dinners.. Truth is, love is giving her half your fries when she said she wasn’t hungry. It’s waking up at 4am to her snoring and refraining from shoving her off the bed. It’s talking in accents just for shits, and trying to embarrass one another in public. It’s going on adventures, and making fun of each other. It’s stupid fights and memorable make ups. Love isn’t just pretty and romantic.. It has been a tough year for everyone, so I made a list of good things that happened in 2018; we saw a beautiful lunar eclipse! And in Saudi Arabia women can now drive! And also, The first cinema in 35 years in Saudi Arabia opened, screening “Black Panther”. 📽 A man is playing his piano to blind and injured elephants, and they love it. 🐘 💕And there’s also a documentary about it! 🎹 There’s a group of birds in a French theme park that has been trained to pick up the trash, and India’s Supreme Court decriminalized consensual gay sex 🌈 There’s a man in Nigeria that has been paying for hospital bills of poor and uninsured strangers, and over 350 golden retriever gathered in Scotland to celebrate the 150th anniversary of their lovely breed. Then on the Fourth of July, over 250 people went comforting dogs in shelters instead of watching the fireworks. 🐕 Germany launched the world’s first hydrogen powered train, 🌱And more than 200 nations promised to fight against ocean plastic pollution. 🌊 ♡ Every day there’s a sunrise and a sunset to look at, kisses, 💋 falling stars, 💫 weird shaped clouds, ☁️ friends you can look up to.. ♥ Laughter and the beauty of small things. Do not forget that despite the bad things that happen, (and that happen to us, too) the sun rises every day and the world is full of things to see 🌈 and discover 🦋 and taste 🍰 and caress 🐥 and sometimes just getting out of bed on some dark days is a beautiful victory!!! We’re alive!

Take pictures of them partying, studying, eating, or sleeping in your bed. You will fall in love with your friends. Deep, passionate love. You will create a second family with them, a kind of tribe that makes you feel less vulnerable. Sometimes our families can’t love us all the time. Sometimes we’re born into families who don’t know how to love us properly. They do as much as they can but the rest is up to our friends. They can love you all the time, without judgement. At least the good ones can. – went with some friends to @gardaland, on my favourite ride, and had the time of our lives. Enea lost his horns at some point during the spinning, as you can see 😈 it was an amazing adventure, thanks to @flixbus for bringing us there, and @beatotemilano for treating us with the best pizza ever in Italy 🍕

Fall in love gently. Remind yourself that you are the longest relationship of your life. Remind yourself that you are a child of this universe and that you are worthy of happiness. I’ve learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way they handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I’ve learned that making a “living” is not the same thing as making a “life.” I’ve learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back. I’ve learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I’ve learned that even when I have pains, I don’t have to be one. TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY! 🎂 I want to use this little space to thank all of you, for supporting me directly or indirectly. You are the reason I do what I love and I am grateful for that. Photography has been the joy.. The joy of my life.
