Meet Yang Qi, Main Character Designer On ‘Black Myth Wukong’

0

Yang Qi is a talented Chinese artist and cofounder of Game Science, a Chinese video game development and publishing company known for its first internationally released premium game Black Myth: Wukong in 2024.

In 2014, Game Science was founded in Shenzhen by seven ex-Tencent Games employees. They had previously worked on a free-to-play MMORPG called Asura Online which was based on The Legend of Wukong, an online novel adapted from Journey to the West, a Chinese novel published in the 16th century during the Ming dynasty and attributed to Wu Cheng’en. It is regarded as one of the great Chinese novels, and has been described as arguably the most popular literary work in East Asia. It is widely known in English-speaking countries through Arthur Waley’s 1942 abridged translation, Monkey.
