Exploring Ukraine’s Heritage Through the Symbolism of the “Hustynochkaa” Headscarf Series by Lyubov Bessarab

Lyubov Bessarab is a Ukrainian artist and designer whose work explores contrasts—between reality and imagination, presence and absence, and the seen and unseen.

Her art is deeply rooted in themes of identity, feminism, and mysticism, often reflecting the shifting nature of selfhood in today’s world. A constant source of inspiration in her practice is the female muse, whose essence shapes and energizes each piece. From her early cardboard cutouts inspired by Matisse to the pop-art-infused *Hustynochkaa* series, Lyubov’s work has evolved from personal exploration to cultural commentary. Her latest project, *OI LUBO*, blends digital and traditional media to create richly layered portraits that honor the complexity of womanhood.
