Illustrator Creates The “Dead Cat” Painting Series With Grim Reaper And Cat Sidekick Wandering Through A Whimsical, Soft‑spoken Afterlife

Brandon James Scott is an award‑winning Canadian artist who splits his time between animation and picture‑book illustration, best known as the creator of the Netflix preschool series “Justin Time.”

A Sheridan College animation graduate and longtime Creative Director of Design at Toronto’s Guru Studio, he has helped shape major animated productions for Netflix, Disney, Nickelodeon and more, while also illustrating over ten picture books for publishers like HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster and others. Alongside this client work, he maintains a personal painting practice, including his ongoing “Dead Cat” series that follows the Grim Reaper and their feline companion through whimsical afterlife scenes.
