Expressive Sculptures And 3D Characters By Ukrainian Artist Roman Chystakhovskyi

Roman Chystakhovskyi is a Ukrainian 3D character and creature artist and sculptor based in Leipzig, Germany, with a classical fine‑art background in painting from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv.

He creates highly expressive figurative sculptures and digital characters that balance realism and stylisation, from physical clay/ceramic pieces to game‑ready 3D models rendered in real time. His recent sculptures—both digital and physical—often depict elongated male heads and torsos with dramatic expressions and surface texture, exploring ideas like excess and perception (“Too much will never be enough”, “Through your eyes”). Characters such as “Mechanic Joe” show his interest in storytelling through gesture, costume and micro‑details: a dusty roadside mechanic inspired by a pigeon’s mullet‑like plumage, with believable skin, fabric and attitude.
