Mariano Peccinetti Builds Portals to the Subconscious Out of Vintage Photographs and Galaxies

Mariano Peccinetti (@marianopeccinetti), also known by the pseudonym Trasvorder, is an Argentinian musician and visual artist born in Mendoza in 1985.

Peccinetti describes himself as an “image curator” — before he ever made collages, he spent years collecting vintage photos from magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and National Geographic, sourced from the 1950s to 1980s. He splices these vintage images with cosmic and surreal elements — galaxies, mountain ranges replacing faces, or 1950s-style bathers set against alien landscapes — creating what he calls “a portal directly to your subconscious.”

His process has evolved over time: he started purely with scalpel-cut physical collage in 2012, but today works in a hybrid way, generating atmospheres with AI tools like Midjourney and Firefly, then reworking them heavily in Photoshop and adding movement in After Effects. He links his visual work closely to his music career (with the band Las Luces Primeras), describing both as forms of travel tied to dreams, meditation, and the exploration of the subconscious.
