This Artist Uses AI To Create Spectacular Sci-Fi Worlds That Look Like Scenes From Movies That Were Never Made

Somewhere between the golden age of science fiction paperback covers and the spectacular visual worlds of modern cinema lies the work of Mikeron, the creative mind behind Spacejetters. His imaginative collection of futuristic landscapes, enormous spacecraft, alien civilizations, and interstellar adventures feels like an endless gallery of scenes from science fiction movies that haven’t been made yet.

A longtime enthusiast of science fiction art, Mikeron originally experimented with traditional painting and 3D modeling, drawing inspiration from legendary illustrators such as Chris Foss, Peter Elson, and Chris Moore. In 2023, he began exploring AI image generation as a way to bring his ideas to life more quickly. The results combine the colorful, imaginative spirit of vintage sci-fi illustration with the cinematic scale and atmosphere of contemporary digital art.

But Mikeron isn’t simply interested in creating beautiful pictures of spaceships. His larger project involves building an interconnected fictional universe, complete with mysterious planets, futuristic civilizations, imaginary histories, and stories waiting to be told. Whether depicting a massive vessel crossing an alien sky or a forgotten spacecraft stranded on a distant world, his images offer little windows into places that exist only in the imagination.
