For more than a century, it blended in, until bright colors bled from the walls and windows of a 113-year-old church in Denver. Now, the building near Wash Park is home to the Church of Cannabis, according to 9News. On 4/20, the International Church of Cannabis will open its doors at 400 S. Logan Street. Chinese Company Builds A Bamboo Treehouse Without Nails Or Screws
A Beijing-based architecture firm named Penda has designed a treehouse made from bamboo that doesn’t use any of those things. This design instead requires ropes and rods of bamboo, and nothing more. Cyril Porchet Photographs Ornate Baroque Churches Around The World

Looking at the gorgeous, dramatic images of Baroque churches in Cyril Porchet’s series, “Seduction,” you might mistake the photographer for a religious man. But Porchet is more interested in the power the photos represent than the religious ideology. His intention was to explore the seductive power of display. What is extraordinary is how much you lose all sense of perspective and depth, such is the overabundance of detail. I like how the odd feature confuses all the more; like the red rope of the ornamental light in the image below for instance which neatly splices the image in half. Beomsik Won is an professional Korean photographer and artist who currently lives and works in Seul. Beomsik received his M.F.A. in Photography from Hongik University and M.F.A. in Fine Art Media from UCL University. To Won architecture is a language that can be expanded, reduced, and manipulated at will. For his latest ‘Archisculpture Project’, Korean artist assembled from photos of diverse architectural buildings by various architects. While studying at the Slade School of Art, Won was inspired by the eclectic variety of London architecture, but felt that to photograph the buildings he admired individually would only amount to a database, when what he sought was a creative response to his experiences in the city. A Giant Ancient Egyptian Statues Unearthed
Egyptian workers lift with an excavator parts of a statue for restoration after it was unearthed at Souq al-Khamis district, at al-Matareya area, Cairo, Egypt, 09 March 2017. According to the Ministry of Antiquities, a German-Egyptian archaeological mission found in parts two 19th dynasty royal statues in the vicinity of King Ramses II temple in ancient Heliopolis. The first is an 80cm tall bust of King Seti II carved in limestone, while the second is eight meters tall carved in quartzite. Chinese Province Spends $73M To Reproduce Century-Old ‘Ancient Town’
Construction on the Guiyang ancient town project in Hunan province began on Feb. 13, China News reported. The project was undertaken with an investment of 500 million RMB ($72.8 million). The cultural site, occupying 2,160 mu (144 hectares) of land, features pseudo-classic architecture including a Guiyang Confucius Temple, Kun Opera house, museums, ancient stages and commercial streets. This House Looks Normal But It’s Actually Made Entirely Of Newspaper

In Rockport, Massachusetts there is a two room cabin made entirely out of newspapers, glue and varnish. The house was built by Elis Stenman in 1922, and he lived there with his family for six years. Everything inside the paper house is also made of paper. Stenman built chairs, tables, bookshelves and even curtains and a clock out of newspaper and magazine pages. Only the piano is made of wood and covered with paper to maintain uniformity, and the fireplace is made of bricks, for obvious reason. After Stenman passed away the house was then turned into a museum. Continue reading »
