China: The Land Where Fake Brands Reign Supreme
Shamelessly, China has dubbed itself as “the king of counterfeiters” and the city of Nanjing, east of Shanghai, prides itself on the imminent grand opening of a new shopping centre dedicated to some 58 fake brands of merchandise. These imposters bear strong resemblances to their original inspirations, but are often differentiated by an intentionally mis-spelled letter or two.
Counterfeit goods have been the bane of the world trade industry for decades, and China, while a blatant culprit, is far from the only one. The dynamics of the infringement varies from breaches of product patents in industrial and technical products to illegal reproductions of copyright entertainment material to fake luxury brands. Billion Euro House in Dublin
Billion Euro House, an art installation and living space in Dublin’s Smithfield district, has been decorated with 1.4bn decommissioned banknotes. Interior walls are built from blocks of the money, and shredded notes cover the walls, floors, tables, chairs and even the toilet bowl. Sand sculptors finish a sand replicas at Sand Museum located in the Tottori Dune on April 1, 2012 in Tottori, Japan. The 5th exhibition hosted by the world’s first ever sand museum is focusing on the theme of ‘Great Britain’ as the nation celebrates it’s hosting of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Hillary Clinton Goes Viral: ‘Texts From Hillary’ Meme Rides Wave Of Success
Hillary Clinton is best known for her political accomplishments – representing New York as a United States Senator, being a leading candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008 and working as the current Secretary of State — but now she’s become part of some neither she nor anyone else ever expected.
The celebrated Secretary of State is the star of a new internet meme in which the she’s shown wearing a pair of dark sunglasses looking at her blackberry. Beneath the photo of her looking at her blackberry is a caption of Clinton responding to someone on her phone.
The meme, called “Texts From Hillary Clinton,” has been started on Tumblr blog of the same name. The Tumblr account appears to be created in the same fashion as other Tumblr hits including “Kim Jong-Il Looking At Things” and “Garfield Minus Garfield,” which are each themed photo collections. Seahawks Uniforms: Twitter Responds To Teams Uniform Makeover
The Seahawks haven’t made any significant changes to their uniforms since 2002, but that all changed yesterday when the team unveiled their new uniforms. While fan reactions on Twitter from been iffy over the new changes, Walter Thurmond, third-year cornerback from the University of Oregon has not only checked out the new Seahawks uniform, but gave it a feel.
According to the Seahawks website, Thurmond wore the new uniforms for a sneak preview and gave it “two raised gloves, and two extended palms, up.” Being dubbed by Thurmond as “new age,” the cornerback explains that “it’s transitioning from where we are as an organization and where the league is going.”

Mexican Pointy Boots: Las Botas Picudas
Photographers Alex Troesch and Aline Paley first saw the long, pointy Mexican boots on a video through Facebook. Inspired by the video they saw, the Brooklyn-based duo, who have known each other three years, traveled to Matehuala, Mexico in late January to see the boots with their own eyes.
In northern Mexico, the pointy boots trend is more about flash than fashion. “They’re worn by people who want to impress other people,” Troesch says. In fact, one boot maker they met had transformed a regular pair of shoes into pointy boots for a client who wanted to impress the jury of a dance contest.
