Purev’s reflection is perfectly captured in the icy water in Altai Mountains, Mongolia, September 2016. Navigate the snowy wilds of Mongolia with this nomadic reindeer herding family. Photographer Joel Santos dived 1000km into the depths of Northern Mongolia to visit the Ganbaa family near Khovsgol Lake. Despite only being able to spend three days in the Tsaatan familyÌs camp, Santos travelled for four days to reach them – three driving and one on horseback – before repeating the epic journey to return home. Travelling with an interpreter and a fellow photographer from Màràn, Mongolia, the photographer met the Ganbaa family, led by matriarch Purev who lives with Buyantogtokh, a widowed reindeer herder. Caterina Rossato creates 3D layered landscapes out of old postcards. She seeks to evoke both the familiar and the alien, the specific and the general. It’s interesting that she chose to use postcards, which often enable us to live vicariously through friends and family who are traveling abroad. In a sense, we’ve heard about the locations and they are familiar to us in name and description; however, we often haven’t traveled to those distant lands, not enough to know them personally or to have seen them up close. The beautiful fictional worlds by Catherine Nelson are made by combining her wonderful mixed skills originating from the art education in painting received at the College of Fine Arts in Sydney and digit photography. Catherine produced a specific photographic technique by connecting many images in a photo series, and creating circular photos that embrace lovely flora and fauna in imaginary new worlds. Well, this is hardly a waist of time! Here’s the couple who traveled the U.S. with an LED hula hoop – taking magnificent landscape photographs as they went. The brilliantly vibrant photographs show off the lights and colors of the lit-up hula hoop – with the strikingly serene American landscapes in the background. Grant Mallory, 25, from Columbus, Ohio, took pictures of his 23-year-old fiance hula-hooping in various national parks across the United States over the course of a three month road trip in the summer of 2015.

Alien Landscapes
These stunning photographs may look like alien planets, but they are actually satellite images of planet Earth. Commercial satellite company DigitalGlobe recently released the images as a way of highlighting the incredible detail of their imagery – the highest-resolution commercial satellite imagery in the world. Some of the images – taken above Afghanistan, Algeria, Peru, Russia and the United States – look more like abstract works by Mondrian than segments of the globe. DigitalGlobe, based in Westminster, Colo., launched its first satellite in 1999 and currently has four in operation. Here: Sutter, California.

Astonishing Time-lapsed Landscapes
These stunning photos act as postcards for one photographer, who has traveled all over the globe, braving freezing temperatures to create the ultimate time lapse video. Photographer Dustin Farrell, 36, spent four years perfecting his technique and traveling all over the world in his quest to capture the most beautiful time lapses of nature. The dramatic photo shoots would take anywhere from 30 minutes through to a painstaking, and patience testing, six hours. Dustin, who lives in Arizona, merged almost a million pictures together to create the incredible timelapse video of scenes such as a lightning storm over the Grand Canyon and an explosive display of the Northern Lights in Iceland. From onion peels to kiwi seeds or even bits of chocolate, it seems any canvas is sufficient for Turkish artist Hasan Kale as long as it meets the requirement of being incredibly tiny. Hasan delights in the challenge of depicting landscapes of his native Istanbul in the most infinitesimal of brush strokes, a feat that requires the use of a magnifying glass to appreciate the details of each piece.
