Photographer Michael Salisbury Visualizes Chicago As An Abandoned City

Chicago is the home of over 2.7 million people, making it the third most-populated city in the U.S. What would the bustling metropolis look if it were abandoned?

Photographer Michael Salisbury was so curious, he created a series—called #ChiMinusChi — that portrays the Windy City as a deserted place.

“The images show a surreal perspective of the city,” he says. “Empty streets and highways are something you’d probably never get a chance to see in real life. It’s not meant to be postapocalyptic or anything; the photos feel refreshing and calm—not something you associate with one of the largest cities in the world.”

Take a look at the results and see Chicago as you’ve never seen it before.
