Beautiful Publicity Photographs of Sharon Stone for “Total Recall”
Paul Verhoeven directed Sharon Stone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall, a 1990 sci-fi film. Stone initially declined the film because she disliked action. After learning Verhoeven was involved, she reconsidered the proposal.

“I said, ‘I’ve done every stupid action movie I’ll do. No, thanks. I said, “Oh, OK,” when they told me Paul Verhoeven was directing. No need to attend the meeting. If they want me, I’ll do it. Had seen his films and liked them. I fell in love with him after meeting him. I enjoyed being cast and making it”, she told Playboy.
It was expected that Total Recall would be a hit this year. It grossed $261.4 million worldwide, making it the fifth-highest-grossing film of the year. Reviewers praised its themes of identity and questioning reality but criticized its vulgar and violent content. The film won an Academy Award for its practical special effects, and Jerry Goldsmith’s score is considered one of his best.
Total Recall has been lauded for its ambiguous ending, which could mean Quaid’s adventures are real or imagined, and for its themes of authoritarianism and colonialism. Some critics consider it Schwarzenegger’s best film and one of the best science fiction films ever made. With comic books and video games, Total Recall was adapted into the 1999 TV series Total Recall 2070. After Dick’s The Minority Report, a 2002 standalone film Minority Report was made, and a 2012 remake, Total Recall, failed to match its success.
