0

René Vincent (1879–1936) was a French illustrator active in the 1920s and 1930s, celebrated for his Art Deco style and influential poster designs that shaped 20th-century advertising.

He contributed fashion illustrations to renowned publications such as La Vie Parisienne, L’Illustration, Fantasio, the Saturday Evening Post, and Harper’s Bazaar. After returning to France, he created numerous advertisements for brands like Bugatti, Peugeot, Michelin, and Shell Oil Company, with his 1925 Porto Ramos Pinto poster standing out as his most iconic work. A passionate car enthusiast, Vincent was among the first in France to obtain a driver’s license and to have a garage built at his home, and his distinctive style was marked by distorted perspectives and dynamic compositions.
