Meet Adolfo Hohenstein, The Maestro of Italian Art Nouveau and Poster Design

0

Adolfo Hohenstein (1854–1928) was a German-born Italian artist known for his contributions to Italian Art Nouveau, or Stile Liberty.

Often called the father of Italian poster art, he influenced advertising and theatrical design in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His work with the Ricordi publishing house in Milan produced elegant posters for operas like Tosca and La Bohème, as well as advertisements featuring flowing lines and decorative elements. Through his mentorship and innovative designs, Hohenstein helped shape a distinctly Italian style of commercial art that thrived in the early 20th century.
