“When Rembrandt Meets Pollock”: Colorful Classical-Meets-Contemporary Portraits of Cesar Santos

Cesar Santos is a Cuban-American artist and portrait painter best known for his “Syncretism” series, which merges different artistic styles into a single, balanced composition.

Born in Cuba in 1982, Santos immigrated to the United States, where he began his formal art education before traveling to Florence, Italy, to study classical painting techniques at the Angel Academy of Arts. His work powerfully combines the technical precision of Renaissance masters with the chaotic energy of modern abstraction, creating a unique visual dialogue between past and present. Santos’s art has been exhibited in museums worldwide, and he has won numerous awards, including first place in a portrait competition at the Grand Central Academy in New York.
