Alex J. Fowkes is a UK‑born, Vancouver‑based graphic designer, artist, muralist and author renowned for bold, typographic‑driven work that transforms branding, packaging, installations and public spaces into immersive visual experiences.
A First Class Honours graduate from Nottingham Trent University’s Graphic Communication program, he freelanced since 2013 after London agency experience, creating murals, sculptures and graphics for clients like Sony Music, Lululemon, Urban Outfitters, Red Bull and Penguin Random House, often using custom typography to reshape environments from music venues to retail interiors. He authored the books Drawing Type and Expressive Type (Rockport Publishing), celebrating letterform creativity, and shares his process—hand‑drawn sketches evolving into wood carvings, coolers, snowboards and large‑scale installations.
