Artist Draws Atmospheric Small Towns And Serene Landscapes Painted With A Simple Rectangle Brush

Alariko is a 23-year-old Spanish digital artist and illustrator who specializes in environmental and background design.

Alariko’s portfolio is deeply atmospheric, largely featuring serene small towns, nature-focused landscapes (like “dead trees” and chimney smoke), and incredibly detailed world-building. His art style feels heavily inspired by European comics and classic 2D animation.

What makes his aesthetic unique is his remarkably simple technical approach. Using Procreate, he creates his intricate digital paintings primarily with a standard rectangle brush utilizing color jitter, and basic default sketching brushes. He paints heavily from imagination rather than direct reference photos, resulting in illustrations that feel both highly stylized and organically painted, with blocky, energetic brushstrokes that look worthy of a high-budget animated feature film.
