The Anonymous Artist Redefining Digital Image-Making by Turning Everyday Photos Into Surreal Visual Collages

Fontanesi is an anonymous Italian image-maker known for surreal photo collages and visual “short circuits” made by combining two or more images into a single frame. The work is built around everyday subjects, but the edits create strange, funny, and sometimes unsettling results.

What makes the style stand out is the way it plays with perception. The images often use simple tools such as Instagram Layout, yet the outcome feels like a deliberate critique of post-production, appearance, and the instability of digital images. In other words, the simplicity of the method is part of the concept.
