Roy James, 72, from the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, started to build his railway in 1990. It started off small but that “one thing lead to another” and now his collection features more than 100 trains and 400 coaches and wagons. Amazing Wooden VW Beetle Made By Bosnian Pensioner
A Bosnian pensioner has made a wooden Volkswagen Beetle. Momir Bojić, 71, created the car from over 50,000 separate pieces of oak. The avid VW Beetle fan worked on his labour of love for more than two years. He covered the bodywork of a regular Beetle in thousands of oak tiles, each one of which required no fewer than 23 separate procedures. Mr Bojic made all of the wooden fittings – steering wheel, gearstick, hubcaps, radio – in his garden workshop. The car is perfectly roadworthy, and Mr Bojić says its draws crowds wherever it goes. The Scandinavian Peninsula is one of the most breathtaking landscapes of Northern Europe, and the Norwegian fjords, carved out by millions of years of coastal erosion, are among the most mysterious and naturally beautiful features of the region. History abounds in these narrow, steep-sided inlets, which wind like great arteries around the coastlines of Norway and neighbouring Sweden, concealing the secrets of years gone by.
