The Battle For The Largest Bonfire In The Netherlands
In the last few days of the year leading up to the midnight of December 31, two Dutch teams from the neighboring districts of Scheveningen (in Noorderstrand) and Duindorp (in Zuiderstrand) battle each other on Scheveningen’s North Beach for the title of “the largest bonfire in the Netherlands”. The long tradition and a matter of pride keeps the emotions churning as enthusiastic participants stack wooden crates and pallets as high as they can. The battle is closely monitored not only from Scheveningen and Duindorp, but also in the rest of the Netherlands and beyond. Tourists come all the way from America, Germany, France and England to see the bonfires. Mystical light in magical Machu Picchu
After a hard and demanding 5 day trek to this wonder, we rested our weary legs while patiently waiting for the clouds to part and the sun’s rays to hit the sweet spot in the the centre of the ceremonial palace in the complex and we were not disappointed, we were greeted with some magical light. Artist Creates Post-apocalyptic Versions of London, Newcastle and Edinburgh
The river Thames has run dry, the Shard is burning and there’s no seems to be no sign of life on the South Bank.
It sounds nothing like London as we know it now , but this stark artwork reimagines the capital in a post-apocalyptic world. Inspired by the film Insurgent, starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James, and its dystopian setting, an artist has reimagined what London, Edinburgh and Newcastle could look like in the future … and the results are bleak.

2014 National Geographic Photo Contest, Week 1
“Dreamscape”. A stunning sunset painted the sky over the Jokulsarlon Glacer Lagoon in South Iceland. It was a typical cloudy day in the Icelandic summer. The day was not hoping for a nice sunset, but I still decided to go on the spot, hoping to finally see the sun once the same had left behind the clouds. When the sun went down, in fact the sky burned out in an incredible vanilla tone. The scene was so peaceful and placid, so I decided to capture it with a long exposure, to bring out the amazing sense of oniric peace that this amazing sunset created. This sculptural vessel was carved from a gourd. The relief carving contains a centrally inset orchid carved from wood (Basswood). The non-carved surfaces were covered by handmade paper and then wood-burned to create a stained-glass appearance.

Boat Roofed Shed in Wales
Boat Roofed shed is Owned by sheddie: Alex Holland. The roof is an upturned boat! It is located at an altitude of 750ft above sea level in the Cambrian Mountain range near Machynlleth in mid Wales. It is full of nautical nonsense befitting a boat turned upside down up a mountain! It has a 20w solar panel trickle feeding a leisure battery which powers 3 pairs of ultra-brite L.E.D. lights and a 12v sound system. There is a 12v/gas refrigerator and a bottled gas cooker with 2 burners, a grill, and an oven.
Also has a small ‘Belfast sink’ plumbed in. It is heated by a 19th century French enamel wood burning stove. The chimney is an old king pole from a circus big top that used to house elephants know as ‘The elephant shed’! The shed is made completely from recycled materials except for the 12v system. 3 sets of chimes from inside mantelpiece clocks have been screwed into the centre board of the boat and you can play them with a big nail.
