Nowadays we can find cool murals and other streetart almost everywhere. Some artist used paint, some use real city object and some… just use the wall itself. Expanding the creative boundaries artist collective HAD opened their first exhibition WALLS, bringing new forms of street art to Bosnia. Using wallcut technique they are penetrating the walls to open their structure and give them new life. By this reconstruction they are creating something new, giving a purpose to walls that have been neglected for decades. In the old days, the possession of a dovecote was a symbol of status and power, and only the nobles had the privilege of owning one. Breeding pigeons had good value. It not only provided meat and eggs — pigeons and doves were an important food source in Western Europe — but their dung served as an excellent fertilizer. The pigeons kept by the lords however were a nuisance to nearby peasant farmers, particular at the time of sowing of new crops. Woman Quits Job to Knit Over 300 Coats and Hats for Abandoned Greyhounds
Artist Jan Brown (of Knittedwithlove) has dedicated over 4,000 hours to knitting cozy apparel for abandoned greyhounds. A few years ago, Brown was inspired by a friend and began to sell handmade doggy hats and coats. Shortly after, she decided to expand her work by donating blanket coats and hats to shelter greyhounds. Since this breed has thin fur and easily gets cold, Brown’s gifts come in handy during the wintertime and, thus far, she’s handcrafted over 300 pieces for these dogs. A spooky sight to behold! This is what a psychiatric hospital that has been abandoned for years looks like. Complete with bowling alley and a theater, the hospital shows just how much nature has weathered it over time as paint peels from the walls and the mattress gather dust. The shots were captured by Will Ellis, 26, a photographer based in Brooklyn, New York, with a Canon 5D Mark II with a long exposure to get the full range of shadow creeping across the scenes. From Britain to Denmark and France to Norway, these are among Europe’s eeriest abandoned Second World War fortifications. Among the military structures pictured are those at Widemouth Bay in Cornwall, Hayling Island in Hampshire and Studland Bay in Dorset. They were also photographed at Lamba Ness in the Shetlands, Newburgh in Aberdeenshire and Cramond Island in the Firth of Forth.

Photographer Thomas Windisch Explores The Abandoned Mental Asylums Across Italy
These images of abandoned hospitals across Italy are not for the faint-hearted. Both of the hospitals featured in the photographs are Italian asylums – known as manicomios – that were used as mental hospitals. Shut down by law in 1978, the derelict buildings are visibly overgrown and make for very eerie portraits. Photographer Thomas Windisch, 32, of Graz, Austria, said the asylums, located in top-secret spots, can get very creepy when there aren’t many people there with him. Man Noticed This Abandoned Hangar But Whats Inside Caught Him By Surprise
Urban explorer and photographer Ralph Mirebs found something very rare; a find unlike anything we’ve seen before. While venturing around Kazakhstan, Ralph came across an enormous abandoned building. At first, the building looked similar to a large airport hangar but much larger. After breaking into it, he realized that this was a very special building with some of the most historical items in the world. In fact, two of the most historical items in the world! The abandoned hangar is located at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The Cosmodrome is miles away and still in operation today. Because the NASA Space Program was recently shut down, this is the only area that astronauts can make their way up to the International Space Station via Russian Soyuz space shuttles. This hangar in particular is from a previous time when the Russians and the Americans were competing in a race for space exploration. Continue reading »

Abandoned Motors At Makeshift Car Graveyards
Leaves and forest foliage claim abandoned motors at makeshift car graveyards. German photographer Dieter Klein travels the world to find vintage automobiles left to rust in leafy forests and fields. The mysterious graveyards host a range of cars, including a rare Jaguar XK120, which, if restored, could be worth £82,000, and a fleet of vehicles used by the Allies in the Second World War. The cars, often with doors, tires or windows missing, are parked on the forest floor as nature reclaims them. Dieter, 57, from Cologne, first came across a Citroen truck that had been dumped in a bush six years ago. After witnessing how the foliage had grown in and around the man-made machine, Dieter was hooked and began to track down other unusual resting places. However, a closer look will reveal the majestic rooms to be engulfed in swathes of dust and moss; hotels that once hosted royals and high society abandoned to the elements. This is the latest result of urban exploration photography, going beyond “no entry” signs to capture images of dilapidated buildings across Europe. Mystery Abandoned Hospital in Perrysburg, New York
These chilling images prove there is no sign of life at this abandoned tuberculosis treatment hospital. Johnny Joo captured the eerie shots of the desolate TB ward, in Perrysburg, New York. Where equipment lies gathering rust and walls are left crumbling. The photojournalist, from Cleveland, Ohio, stumbled upon the facility, which shut its doors in 1995, before shooting what remains of the historic site. Johnny said the facility, named after Buffalo Mayor James Nobel Adam, remains something of an unknown quantity as it is surrounded by more than 500 acres of forest land. Continue reading »
