From Dusk To Dawn: Photographer Creates Amazing Cityscapes Showing The Transition From Night To Day
These stunning photographs are not just colourful depictions of city life – they are also part of a visionary attempt to capture the passage of time in still images. Artist Fong Qi Wei was keen to invent a way to show how scenes change over time, without resorting to a video camera or time-lapse photography. So he captured multiple pictures of the same sites over the course of a day, before splicing them together into a single image taken over several hours. The Empire State Building is an iconic office building known as “the Most Famous Skyscraper in the World.” Built during the Depression between 1930 and 1931, the Empire State Building became the world’s tallest office building until 1967. The design of the building changed 16 times during planning and construction, but 3,000 workers completed the building’s construction in record time: one year and 45 days, including Sundays and holidays. The Empire State’s construction work and its workers were a magnet for press and magazine photographers, which is how many iconic images of the construction work were created, like these.

But a father-of-two is brightening the breakfasts of his youngest daughter, who suffers severe food allergies, by creating daily toast sculptures. Adam Perry said his nine-year-old daughter Scarlett could not eat dairy, eggs, nuts or shellfish, but that white bread was a safe option. His bread creations to date include the Statue of Liberty, a T-rex and – inspired by the Olympic Games – a silhouette of Mo Farah doing his trademark Mobot celebration. Amazing Wooden VW Beetle Made By Bosnian Pensioner
A Bosnian pensioner has made a wooden Volkswagen Beetle. Momir Bojić, 71, created the car from over 50,000 separate pieces of oak. The avid VW Beetle fan worked on his labour of love for more than two years. He covered the bodywork of a regular Beetle in thousands of oak tiles, each one of which required no fewer than 23 separate procedures. Mr Bojic made all of the wooden fittings – steering wheel, gearstick, hubcaps, radio – in his garden workshop. The car is perfectly roadworthy, and Mr Bojić says its draws crowds wherever it goes.
