The participants compete in two main categories, video and photography, and the winners receive over $12,000 worth of photography gear. Most Stunning Photos From The National Geographic Instagram Photography Contest
National Geographic has made a name for themselves with their earth-shattering photographs, so it was no surprise that they made Instagram history as the first brand to reach 100 million followers (those are almost Kim Kardashian numbers). To celebrate in true Nat Geo fashion, they opened up a photography contest across the photo-sharing platform – using the hashtag #natgeo100contest. In the 24-hour contest window, the magazine received more than 94,000 photograph submissions. The photo editors and photographers at Nat Geo went through the entries and narrowed them down to the top 10 most stunning images and then let their 10 million followers vote on who would be the grand prize winner. Below you can view the contest winning photo, the top finalists along with some other gorgeous entries that didn’t make the cut but are still just as mind-blowing.

Underwater Photographer of the Year has just announced the winners of its 2019 photo contest. Photographer Richard Barnden of the UK won both Underwater Photographer of the Year 2019 and British Underwater Photographer of the Year 2019 for his photo titled “The Gauntlet”.

The winners of the Andrei Stenin photo contest were announced earlier today. Photographers from Belarus, Iraq, Spain, Israel and South Africa took home first place in the categories Top News, My Planet, Sports and Portrait.
The international photo contest was first organized in December 2014 in memory of Russian photojournalist Andrei Stenin. He was killed while on assignment in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine on August 6, 2014 after his car was shot at and burned on a highway. The photo contest aims to promote young photographers and attract public attention to photojournalism.

The Royal Observatory Greenwich has announced the winners of its annual Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition. American photographer Brad Goldpaint beat thousands of amateur and professional photographers from around the world to take the top title. His shot shows immense red rock formations with the Milky Way looming overhead on the right and the Andromeda galaxy on the left. The winning photographs will be exhibited in the National Maritime Museum.

Spectacular Winning Photos Of The Landscape Photographer Of The Year 2018 Contest
The winners of the Landscape Photographer of the Year 2018 have been announced. This international contest is designed to showcase the beauty and diverse nature of the British landscape, although the competition is open to photographers around the world.
Pete Rowbottom was named Landscape Photographer of the Year 2018 for his striking image of Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands, becoming the 12th winner of the overall title and claiming the £10,000 (about $13,000) top prize.

The ocean is stunning as it is terrifying. Underwater Photographer of the year contest awards those who use their creative skills to capture the stunning beauty of ocean and marine life. The winners of this year contents have been announced, photographers from 63 countries submitted over 5,000 photos in 11 categories.
German photographer, Tobias Friedrich, won the grand prize for his photograph ‘Cycle – War’ which shows a panoramic view of the shipwrecked SS Thistlegorm, stocked with rows of 16H motorbikes loaded into Fordson WOT 3 trucks.

“It’s always fun to dive with and photograph seals but this encounter was extra special. I had not seen any on this dive probably because it was late afternoon and they were enjoying a sensible nap on shore. I was beginning to lose hope when out of nowhere a head popped up out of the kelp and gave me an inquisitive stare. It disappeared again as quickly as it appeared only for the head to pop up again a few moments later in what I can only describe as a game of ‘Peek-a boo’! The water was murky and flash was not really an option, but we were shallow and it was a bright afternoon so anticipating where the head was likely to appear and using a wide aperture and as fast shutter speed as I could, allowed me to capture this memorable experience and the face of my playmate.” Continue reading »
