Vintage Photos Of 12 Crazy Wooden Homes On Wheels From The Early 20th Century
There is no formal definition of a house car but in the early 1900s, Americans want to take to the roads and explore. Some creative Tin Can tourists decided that they’d rather bring their home with them rather than have the tent attachments on the sides of their Model T’s, so they built larger structures that resembled houses onto the frames and off they went. It really is the earliest example of what we commonly call a mobile home.
The superb bus of Ray Conklin, president of the New York Motorbus Company in 1915.
Mobile homes often look blocky and sterile, but these wooden houses look like gingerbread Victorian houses on wheels. Check out how people have hammered and sawed their own homes onto cars. Continue reading »

“Geometrical Asia”: Minimalist Street Photography Series By Víctor Morante
All these photos were taken in India, Thailand, and Vietnam. I’m always seeking for that particular spot to make the photos look quiet, tidy and colorful, quite the contrary with the reality, those countries, in particular, are very busy. The point also of this series is that isn’t that easy to know where the photos were made, they could be photographed anywhere in the world. Continue reading »
Nevermind In Sovietland By Photographer Tomeu Coll
Vorkuta, Russia, 2009
The town, once home to a thriving coal mining industry, is full of abandoned buildings that the government does not have funds to repair. The extremes in temperature (in winter it can get as cold as -40C) make the buildings unstable and liable to collapse.

It was built by gulag inmates but was given purpose by the coal industry that used to be the region’s lifeblood. Now mining has disappeared, leaving many of its outposts abandoned. While his first book was a collection of pictures, this time the photographer decided to expand and added travel journals, maps, local facts, and personal interviews, shifting the focus of his story from the objects he captures to the journey itself.
