An Artist Paints Stunning Melancholic Cityscapes of Her Hometown
Sasha Volodina, an artist from Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, raises the aesthetics of the urban landscape to a new level. By happy coincidence, the editorial team was lucky enough to get to her studio as part of a tour and talk to her in person for a while.
Sasha is an incredibly positive person with burning eyes. They light up even brighter when the artist begins to talk about her work.
Her creative path began with portraiture, but now the artist draws people. “I’m fed up with portraits,” she says. At this stage of her artistic journey, Volodina focuses on yards, abandoned buildings and industrial sites-all things that other artists and photographers usually overlook.
