Cyberpunk 1977: An Artist Creates Superb Aesthetic Visuals of East-Europe Dystopian Dreams

[0

‘Cyberpunk 1977’ envisions the past through a retro-futuristic lens, wrapped in an orange-green palette.

Rooted in a utilitarian aesthetic reminiscent of the Iron Curtain era, it integrates gothic, psychedelic, and vintage-futuristic elements alongside crude technology. Rather than conforming to traditional cyberpunk, it serves as a prequel or parallel subgenre, depicting the 1970s as a ‘prehistoric’ dystopia where free will is stifled by authoritarian rule. Set in an avant-garde gothic brutalist cityscape, its world explores diverse settings, including a striking biomechanical *Gigeresque* Art Nouveau interior.

Similarly, vintage vaporwave shares a deep connection, embracing the same color palette and historical motifs. While evoking a bittersweet nostalgia, its core purpose is to create a shared exploration of 1970s music, blending it with contemporary electronica.
