Amazing Vintage-Inspired Space Battles And Surreal Worlds That Will Take You Back To The 80s

Simon Heller is a French illustrator, graphic designer, and art director based in Paris.

He studied graphic arts in Strasbourg, Lyon, and at the École Supérieure d’Art et de Design in Amiens. Working as an independent artist since 2020, Heller creates visual content for musicians, magazines (such as Society and Usbek & Rica), publishing houses, film productions, and major brands, including collaborations with Nike.

In his work, Simon combines airbrush techniques, comic book aesthetics (he even maintains a separate profile dedicated to comics at @simus_dessin), and a distinct retro sci-fi style. His portfolio is filled with highly detailed spaceships, dark fantasy motifs (such as skulls, knights, and monsters), surreal scenes, and heavy nods to 80s and 90s visual culture. Heller masterfully applies textures that mimic traditional painting, resulting in digital illustrations that look like vintage science fiction book covers or posters for old-school anime and video games.
