From Upcycled Fashion Pieces To Tactile Bronze Objects, Mary Lindberg Creates A Hauntingly Beautiful Visual Language

Mary Lindberg is a Providence-based visual artist whose work blends wearable art, dark folk aesthetics, and sculptural metal design. Her recent output moves between painted textiles, nature-driven imagery, and striking jewelry-like objects such as “Athena Hair Armor” and the “Cinder Block Chain”.

Mary Lindberg works under the name Crescentwretch and is based in Providence, Rhode Island. She recently shared that she was moving her studio out of Atlantic Mills after four years of making work there.

Her practice combines mystical, nature-centered themes with a rougher handmade aesthetic rooted in clothing, objects, and personal adornment. She has also become known for custom-painted garments and accessories, alongside tactile metal pieces that feel part fashion object, part sculpture, and part ritual artifact.
