Filip Mirazovic Paints Bodies as If They Were Made of Marble, Porcelain, and Old Leather

Filip Mirazovic is a Serbian-born painter, based in Paris, who studied at the École des Beaux-Arts under Vladimir Velickovic, Christian Boltanski, and Dominique Gauthier. He situates his practice within the lineage of classical painting, working primarily in oil on linen and canvas.

His paintings merge landscapes, interiors, and human figures, often built around marble, porcelain, chesterfield leather, and other materials associated with class and wealth. These surfaces become metaphors for the body: marble veins stand in for blood vessels, glossy leather reads as dead-looking skin, and small scratches or dents hint at a “real” person trying to break free from beneath a constructed, almost post-human shell. Recent works like “Daughter” and “Son,” shown in his solo exhibition Cryptomnesia at Plan X in Milan, focus on introspective portraiture, psychological states, and symbolism drawn from ballet and the female figure.
