Photographer Continues To Dress Up Rescued Dogs To Draw Attention To Their Stories
The dapper dogs in clothes are back with a second series, and they’re feeling festive. Earlier this year we were introduced to UCAPS’ well dressed canines available for adoption. Photographer Tammy Swarek came up with the idea of dressing up rescue dogs to draw attention to their stories and help potential owners personally connect with them. Tammy, from Arkansas, drew her inspiration from Facebook after spotting another portrait project for sheltered animals. So she contacted her local dog shelter, the Union County Animal Protection Society (UCAPS) and has worked closely with shelter manager Tanja Jackson ever since. Continue reading »

The series of pictures shows breeds such as Great Danes and Newfoundlands towering over toddlers – highlighting their mutual love for each other. Children no taller than 2ft are seen high-fiving their family pets, running alongside them and even riding their beloved dogs as if they were a horse. So fascinated with this culture of shop cats, Heijnen couldn’t resist photographing the feline fellows. Oddly, her dog, named Chihuahua-mametaro, seems to truly enjoy sticking his head in Semba’s cardboard creations. It’s a different kind of doggy dress up, but it sure is hard not to love it.
