Streetwear Illustrations Dive Into A Dystopian World Of Demon Hunters
A mashup of traditional Japanese ghost symbology, hip-hop retro-futurism, and urban street couture finds its way in the illustrations of 199hates. The Argentina-based visual artist, a.k.a., Mau Lencinas, focuses on illustrations, character designs, and 2D animations. An avid watcher of 90s Japanese TV shows, Lencinas began to draw early on in his childhood. Now, mostly inspired by Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo and the urban style of our nascent neo-modern era, 199hates creates a series of demonic gangsters bearing kanji symbols, and crews of demon hunters adapted from Japanese traditional folklore. Can Photographs Change The World? Somalia Tragedy Through The Lens Of Jean-Claude Coutausse
Photographs have the capacity to transcend politics, in the times of war, natural disasters and perpetrated crimes. The written and verbal perspectives of media figures and scholars can at times diminish the causalties of victims. One of the below photographs by Jean-Claude Coutausse displays Somali men running the opposite way a United Nations convoy is driving towards and the other photograph depicts a Somali boy protesting “against the presence of foreign troops” with two bloody corpses and a crowd dissembling behind him. As a native of Somalia and as an American, these two photographs represent volumes of irony in politics where causalities can not be ignored. Thus as Jonathan Klein has stated “images have the impact of touching people.”

Although the above photos have changed the world, Operation Restore Hope has traces of obscurity from our U.S. nation’s standpoint as well as my native Somalia. Censorship is a great contributor to this obscurity as Ted Rall put it “Dead and wounded Afghans, Iraqis, Pakistanis, Somalis, Yemenis and Libyans have been expunged from American popular culture as well. Other factors are the 6 corporations which control 90% of the media in America” which “constrict the flow of information”

For one day only, the public were able to pour themselves a Carlsberg direct from the poster, which was embedded with a Carlsberg tap and a stack of glasses. What Do You Do When Someone Travels Around The World To Copy You
Some cases of plagiarism are the usual copy-the-photo-and-present-as-their-own, but this one just tops them all. At the base of the story are Lauren Bullen and Jack Morris two travel photographers and some of Instagram’s power couples, and Instagram’s favorite travel power couple with just over two million followers combined. An instagramer, @diana_alexa, is not only following the couple, but copying their every photo, down to the smallest details, like wardrobe, hards, composition, even the food.
