Chilean Street Artist Paints The World With Mythical Inca Creatures
Acting as a Chilean cultural ambassador the street artist INTI draws giant street murals on buildings in Chile and around the world. The muralist from Valparaiso travels to locations on all continents, from France to Delhi to Santiago, bringing the spirit of South American tradition in the colossal surreal portraits. Painted in beautiful thick colors and adorned with relics of Inca creatures, the eerie portraits combine religious roots with contemporary consumerism lifestyle. Maps That Will Make You Look At The World With New Eyes
Firstly, you can see how the size of the US drastically changes as you move it north or south.
Some countries are significantly larger than they should be thanks to the Mercator projection, while others – anything near the equator – are definitely getting a bum deal. The US falls somewhere in the middle. On a standard map it’s dwarfed by Canada, but here you can see that moving it to where Canada is located makes it seem even more prominent than it already is. The True Size Map was created—a interactive website that allows you to drag countries and continents around the Mercator projection and discover just how big they are. You can do this for any country by simply typing its name into the map, allowing for a seemingly endless amount of comparisons. Hollywood movies are full of horror spectacles that take place in circuses, playgrounds and such “happy” places. This children’s playgrounds is located in Sergeevka, Ukraine and it’s one of those that would creep you out. This is actually a playground located in former famous Black Sea resort, however today it’s abandoned and this overgrow park is creeping visitors out. In other words it can ruin ones childhood playground memories in a single stroke! Fascinating Colorized Photos Of Refugees During World War II
Refugees crossed these same passageways 70 years ago. But they were not Syrians and they traveled in the opposite direction. At the height of World War II, the Middle East Relief and Refugee Administration (MERRA) operated camps in Syria, Egypt and Palestine where tens of thousands of people from across Europe sought refuge.
MERRA was part of a growing network of refugee camps around the world that were operated in a collaborative effort by national governments, military officials and domestic and international aid organizations. Social welfare groups including the International Migration Service, the Red Cross, the Near East Foundation and the Save the Children Fund all pitched in to help MERRA and, later, the United Nations to run the camps.
TIME commissioned freelance photo editor Sanna Dullaway to colorize some of iconic images of WWII refugees.

World’s Longest Tunnel Slide To Open In London This Summer
Opening in London later this year, is this huge tunnel slide wrapped around the ArcelorMittal Orbit, a sculpture that was designed for the 2012 Olympics. The slide will allow visitors to loop their way through parts of the structure on their way to the ground. Whether we imagine the world as a futuristic dystopia or a charred wasteland, post-apocalyptic images weigh heavily on our cultural imaginations. In a stunning series of illustrations, Russian artist Yuri Shwedoff has created an intensely atmospheric vision of the “end of days,” one that blends fantasy imagery with science fiction. Among his scenes are sword-wielding warriors, blasted roads, alien architecture, and falling skies; as vestiges of the lost world, animals seem to take on a symbolic significance, communing with the human figures in moments of intensity and reflection.
