23-year-old Marie Ospina is beauty editor with Bustle, each day she sees unrealistic images of models tweaked and manipulated adorning the glitzy world of fashion magazines, TV commercials and billboards.

But what would happen if she asked the same Photoshop experts to work their magic on her? The plus-sized editor began the experiment by sending a single photograph of herself (no effects, filters or retouching) with the simple instruction of “make me beautiful”. She enlisted the digital expertise of 21 Photoshop editors from 17 countries around the world, each given free will to define and craft their own unique version of beauty, by digitally altering her original photo.

This is what he had to say about the inspiration behind her beauty experiment: “I’m aware that in countries like the U.S. or the U.K. being fat is as an inherently negative thing. Stereotypes include, but are not limited to: laziness, selfishness, stupidity, naiveté and even a lower socioeconomic class. But I’m also aware that the notion of “thin is the only beautiful” doesn’t permeate the entirety of the world.”
