35 Entrances, 3708 Apartments: Welcome to the Russian Kowloon Walled City!

1, Oblastnaya Street, Saint-Petersburg. Famous Kudrovo district. This is that very crazy big building you cannot fit in a single photo, wherever you are. 990 meters (3248ft), 25 floors!

It’s hard to imagine how people find the desired apartment here… 35 entrances. Okay, Entrance 35. Look, here the final apartment is 2588th!

andreyvasiliskov

And this is Entrance 25. And the final apartment is 3708th! So, the numbers are descending! What logic do they follow?

andreyvasiliskov

But the main problem is not about numbers, but about the huge yard that never has sunshine.

andreyvasiliskov

And, of course, all the yard is occupied by cars. With a positive approach we can assume that every family has a car, so it means that the residents of the house have almost 4000 cars! And no underground parking here. It’s almost impossible to park a car here at 6 p.m. – many cars stand in the second row already. Probably in the night time the situation is dreadful.

andreyvasiliskov

In order the house could comply with the regulations, it had to have some playgrounds.

andreyvasiliskov

Just imagine, if every apartment here is occupied at leas by 2 residents, the total population of this house amounts to 7 416! Like a small city!

andreyvasiliskov

There are almost 50 000 people living in Kudrovo, but the district still has no hospital. Although, one is being built now. Residents of bld. 1, Oblastnaya Street have a center of medical practice in their own house.

andreyvasiliskov

How would you feel, if you resided here?
